Hammam Bath Glove

A kessa (also spelled kassa or kese) is a textured exfoliating glove, traditionally woven from a slightly rough fabric. It is used on warm, damp skin after Moroccan black soap to remove dead skin cells. Unlike scrubs with grains, it exfoliates mechanically, by friction. [confirm our glove’s material]

Why it works so well

The secret is the combination. Steam softens the skin, black soap loosens the top layer, and the kessa lifts away dead cells in long rolls. The result is skin that looks brighter and feels much smoother than after a regular shower.

How to use a kessa glove

  1. Soften your skin with 10 minutes of steam or a hot shower.
  2. Apply Moroccan black soap, leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse.
  3. Slip on the glove and scrub firmly in long, straight strokes, section by section.
  4. Rinse well and apply a body oil or moisturizer.

What you are seeing roll off is dead skin: this is normal and exactly the point. Full guide: How to Do a Moroccan Hammam at Home.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Scrubbing dry skin: always soften it first.
  • Pressing too hard on sensitive areas: adjust the pressure.
  • Using it on the face, on sunburned or irritated skin.
  • Exfoliating more than once a week.

How to care for your kessa glove

Rinse it well after each use, wash it with soap, and let it dry flat in a ventilated place. Replace it when the texture becomes smooth.
